Fly Over 200 Aircraft:

Unlike real pilots who only get to fly a limited number of aircraft models, Virtual Pilot 3D enables you to fly also any known aircraft model. With some 200+ aircraft to select, your options are unlimited from old vintage models to the latest commercial A380 Airbus model. You can also fly models such as helicopters, fighter jets and gliders, ensuring the game stays fresh and you never get bored.

Real Cockpit Controls:

When you select an aircraft and enter the cockpit, you will find that the controls of each aircraft is modeled to resemble the real thing giving you a realistic flying experience of what it is like to be in control of a real aircraft. The game also includes an interactive guide that will help you quickly get used to each aircraft control, such as oil, oxygen, fuel, wheel chocks, hydraulics’s and control locks.

Realistically Instruments:

The instruments in the game have been created to mimic real life flying, so might experience unexpected system failures, control lags or emergency situations during difficult weather conditions. This realism will help you develop your skills to be able to adapt to different scenarios and ultimately become a better pilot.

Fly To Over 25,000 Airports:

Virtual Pilot 3D has some 25,000 real world airports built into the games database. You will be able to take-off and land any of the 200+ aircraft in different runways in major cities all over the world. Just choose your origin and final destination flight path using the built in launch wizard and you can freely roam the skies and fly anywhere you want.

Real Time and Weather:

Virtual Pilot 3D has a built-in real world synchronization technology which maps the solar system. Hence you will find that the time and weather changes in the game dynamically just as it would in real life. So you might take off from London at night and arrive in Singapore during the day, taking account of the fact you also traveled through different time zones.

You can also choose what sort of weather conditions you would like during your flight or let the game decide just as it would happen in real life. So you might take off in London in the rain and land in Singapore with clear blue skies.

Worldwide Scenery:

The built in VirtualPilot3D scenery pack enhances the realism of this flight simulator game by giving you superb inflight real world aerial views of the planet. You will be able to see urban built up areas, lights in the ground and major highways and airport runway lights when you look out through the front or the side from the cockpit. You can even fly past major land marks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Egyptian Great Pyramids or the Paris Eiffel Tower.

The Negatives:

Here are some things to be aware of before you buy the game. First of, Virtual Pilot 3D is very detailed and may be somewhat complex and over whelming for flight simulator games beginners. You will need to learn what each control, lights and indicators do just like a real pilot. You also need to learn the take-off and landing procedures and get used to the constantly changing environment in which you are flying. Thankfully you do have the interactive guide to teach you everything and also the autopilot option while you spend endless hours learning to fly just like a real pilot.

In addition, the game can be purchased as either a DVD set or digital download. If opting for the DVD then you will have to wait up to a week to get the game delivered to you.

If you decide you would rather download the already configured digital game then you will need a decent internet connection (no dial up connections!) to download the game to your PC or MAC. The advantage here though is that, once purchased, its an instant download and simple install and you can get started playing the game within an hour of buying it.

Overall Verdict

My overall conclusion in this Virtual Pilot 3D review after testing out this game for many hours over a number of days, is that I believe this is the best of the flight simulator games out in the market today. You can tell that the developers have taken great care to produce a game that feels and sounds almost like you are actually flying a real plane. VirtualPilot3D comes highly recommended.
